Beach Guardian Lab

Updated: Apr 29, 2022

Beach Guardian CIC is a Community Interest Company based in Cornwall, United Kingdom. It was co-founded by father and daughter duo: Rob, and Marine Biologist, Emily. Over the years regular beach cleaning has been done to collect and remove rubbish from beaches; mainly plastics washing in from the ocean on the tide. They have expanded and now organise community beach cleans and conduct educational workshops with schools and other groups. They connect people with the environment and improve the health and well being of both people and planet.

I had the pleasure of visiting their 'Lab' near Padstow.

We arranged to meet at the 'Lab', with a local artist Andrew to take a look at the sorting process with all the plastic. They've collected mountains of plastic over the years, and Andrew has the tedious task of organising it all!

Thousands of microplastic & nurdles to sort through. All from north coast beaches.

Beach Guardian continues to do crucial work in the fight against plastic pollution. Visit their website to learn more about how you can help, or attend one of their weekly beach cleans!
