Welcome to the 30 Day Beach Clean! Between March and April 2022, I combed Gyllyngvase Beach every day for 30 days to remove trash, plastic, and other debris that should not be littering this natural environment. Follow me on this exploration where I uncover just how much waste can accumulate in such a short period of time, on one beach. Check out Artificial Coast II to see the full story!
Day 15 Sunday 20th 16:53 - 17:15
Instead of focusing on one area like usual, today I'm going to walk from left to right. Walking slowly to see big items on the surface. Lots of broken down polystyrene foam found. More red plastic from Day 13 too…
Day 16 Monday 21st 16:25 - 16:54
COVID test found but negative! Half way through the project now.
Day 17 Tuesday 22nd 17:57 - 18:22
Small breeze on the beach and no clouds. No rock pools to search through today so not much today!
Day 18 Wednesday 23rd 16:33 - 16:59
Small amount found today but my collection is growing larger.
Day 19 Thursday 24th 16:12 -16:44
Remains of a beach picnic. Cork, fork and another bottle cap found. Always unfortunate to find public litter.
Day 20 Friday 25th 12:23 - 12:56
Tide is completely out this lunch time so I can look through both rocky areas. Satisfying to find all colours of the rainbow today.
Day 21 Saturday 26th 17:47 - 18:11
Only two things found today which is very unusual, both left behind items. A proposal from Cornwall council and an old dog toy.
